Haruki Murakami is an award winning Japanese writer and novelist. He was born on 12th of January, 1949, in Kyoto, Japan. He is known for his short stories, essays and novels like Norwegian Wood .Since childhood, he had been deeply influenced by Western culture as well as Russian music and culture.



He was raised in Ashiya, Nishinomiya and Kobe. Murakami studied drama at Waseda University, where he met Yoko, whom he married in 1971 after completing his studies. His first job was at a record store. He used to run a jazz club and never wrote anything until he was 29. He was inspired to write his first novel, Hear the Wind Sing in 1979, while watching a baseball game. This novel written encouraged him to continue writing.

Haruki Murakami also had a passion for music, especially for jazz, since he was 15. In fact, since August 2018, he decided to become a radio host. Today, owns over 10,000 records of various genres.
